Picnic Island
Picnic Island Tasmania is one of the world’s most exclusive accommodation offerings—an entirely private island, available for just 100 nights per year, hosting a maximum of eight guests on an all-inclusive basis.
The Challenge
Following an extensive renovation, the new owners had created a genuinely rare product. The challenge was ensuring the brand, positioning, and digital experience reflected that rarity—and could support a price point exceeding $10,000 per night.
The existing brand and website communicated charm, but not scarcity, exclusivity or value on the level required.
We had to move the needle from ‘unique stay’ to ultra-luxury product. Attract an ultra-high-net-worth and aspirational luxury audience, balance discoverability with exclusivity and create an immersive experience within a limited budget.
Our Approach
We worked closely with the owners and an international luxury brand team to understand not just the product, but the mindset of the audience. At this level, decisions are not driven by features alone, but by emotion, aspiration, and perception.
Luxury tourism does not operate like mainstream accommodation. For this audience, price signals value, not a barrier, and scarcity increases desirability. The opportunity was to align three critical layers:
Search intent – Brand perception – Booking confidence.
Without that alignment, even the most beautiful website and brand become ineffective.
Using our highly experienced media, SEO and digital teams, we launched a creative platform that spoke to the very essence of the product. ‘All yours’.
All yours’ explicitly captures the idea of rarity and total privacy, emotional ownership of the experience and gives our audience the quiet confidence of true luxury and bragging rights amongst peers.
Results
From the very beginning, we knew beautiful design was not the outcome, but rather the byproduct of getting the strategy right. We shifted accommodation into an experience, availability into scarcity and descriptions into desire. The brand, website, and strategy now operate as a cohesive system—supporting both discovery and conversion at a premium level.
The project repositioned Picnic Island from a distinctive stay into a globally competitive luxury offering. For the right audience, this isn’t just a holiday. It’s a story they’ll share for the rest of their lives.
“From the outset, the IC team showed a real commitment to understanding not just positioning, but where we wanted to take the Picnic Island brand.
What stood out most was their flexibility; they adapted with openness and professionalism as our vision evolved, and the process always felt collaborative and well-managed.
Their connection to Tasmania and insight into the local hospitality landscape also made a meaningful difference.”
